RASMEA ODEH WILL BE RELEASED ON BOND

The Palestinian American Women's Association (PAWA) of Southern California is excited to announce that our sister, Rasmea Odeh will be released on bond. Yesterday, Judge Gershwin Drain filed a ruling granting Rasmea's motion to reconsider his November 10th decision revoking her bond. She will be released as soon as she posts the $50,000 cash bond. Rasmea will be coming home! Go here to donate to her defense.

While we are excited about her release, Rasmea's struggle continues and she needs our support. We must continue to organize on her behalf and work to have the unjust charges against her dropped.

This past Sunday, members of our community joined PAWA as we hosted Marjorie Cohn, current Deputy Secretary of the International Association of Democratic Lawyers. Professor Cohn offered a comprehensive analysis of the legality of Rasmea's case and the injustice she is facing. In addition, doctoral student Lubna Qutami linked Rasmea's struggle to violence against women and systemic and systematic attacks on communities of color and Palestinian activism here in the US. On the heels of this educational and powerful event, we are elated to hear Rasmea will be released on bond.
